Why the Bajaj Pulsar 220 F has turned out to be the youth’s favourite?

The 2018 Bajaj Pulsar 220 F carries forward the legacy that the motorcycle began back in 2008. It is especially, extremely popular among the modern-day youth. It has set a benchmark for the other companies to follow by offering a powerful motorcycle with such a budget-friendly price tag.

Engine and Transmission

The 2018 Bajaj Pulsar 220 F is equipped with a single-cylinder, 220cc engine that is capable of pumping out a maximum of 21 bhp power, coming at 8,500 rpm, while the peak torque is 19 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The drive is sent to the wheel via a 6-speed gearbox.

Performance and Fuel

The new Bajaj Pulsar 220 F can get to a top speed of around 140 kmph since there aren’t any significant limiters in place. The 0-60 kmph acceleration takes just 3.9 seconds.

The bike carries a fuel tank of 15 litres with 3.2 litres of reserve capacity. The average mileage reads around 38 kmpl, which is decent, considering that it is a 220cc motorcycle.

Competitors

Barring the Hero Karizma (which has a poor sales record), the Pulsar 220 did not have any potent competitor in its segment until the Yamaha Fazer 25 came into the scene. However, if you consider the pricing, the 220 is the clear winner.

Braking and Suspension

The 2018 Bajaj Pulsar 220 F has disc brakes on both the wheels, thereby proving that the braking is excellent. The front wheel gets a 260mm disc rotor, while a 230mm unit is offered for the rear wheel. Both the brakes provide quite a good stopping power.

Moving to the suspension, the regular telescopic unit is present at the front, that are aided by anti-friction bush. For the rear, the company uses a set of 5-way adjustable Nitrox shock absorbers.

Verdict

The 2018 Bajaj Pulsar 220 price starts from around Rs. 1 lakhs and boasts on a very powerful engine. The powerful performance, mated to the quality features justify the price tag to a great extent.
